How donating to charity can help reduce your tax bill

Thursday, June 3, 2021

If you are looking for ways to reduce your tax bill or boost your return this end of financial year, it is definitely worth considering donating to charity.

By making a charitable donation by 30 June, you will reduce your taxable income as well as making a genuine difference in the lives of those in need.

The Otis Foundation is a national charity dedicated to gifting retreat accommodation to those with breast cancer, allowing them to relax, reconnect and take a break away with loved ones while going through challenging times.

The Otis Foundation provides tax deductible receipts for financial donations and is registered with the Australian Tax Office (ATO) as Deductible Gift Recipients (DGR). This means that any donation you make over $2 will be tax deductible.

Here's how your donation can make a difference:

"Myself and my sons cannot thank the Otis staff, property owners and supporters enough for paying it forward. Since my diagnosis and treatment, I hadn’t been able to relax or rest at all, I was both physically and mentally exhausted, right up to the front gate of the Otis property.

For the first time in what seemed like forever I smiled and worried about nothing. Our stay was much more than a break or holiday, it gave me a peace of mind that I’d lost.

Please know what a genuine difference The Otis Foundation has made, and continues to make to my sons & I during such difficult times. It isn’t an exaggeration to say it changed our lives".
