Last year my sister-in-law, Carly, was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer at just 34. She went through Chemotherapy, Double Mastectomy and reconstructive surgery all while continuing to be a dedicated wife and mother of a one year old. Carly's not the type of person that likes attention or anyone's pity so last year's battle was mostly done in private. She was incredibly strong and often played it down. I can't even begin to imagine how tough 2019 was for Carly and Tim.

Now, as Carly undergoes hormone treatment to prevent recurrence, she is doing all she can to feel better physically and mentally as the side effects of this medication are really horrendous. Carly has really taken to walking and has signed up to do a hike next year to raise money for an organisation that really helped her last year called The Otis Foundation. The Otis Foundation provide respite retreats for people being treated for or recovering from Breast Cancer.

At this stage I am unable to join Carly on the hike but I am part of the fundraising team and once Covid allows me, I will join Carly on training hikes as much as possible and if my situation changes, I will try and be there in person.
